Brain Food

Awareness of your programming is step one in becoming free.

Hello, dear reader. I know this is a stressful time. The elections are over in America, the season's holidays are fast approaching, it is Q4 for my corporate friends, and the world feels as though it is on fire (if you are still paying attention to the world). Simply stated, stress is present in you and me. How we deal with that stress is another matter entirely. This article is about our internal programming around stress that we are likely unaware of. I will begin with a familiar example of team dynamics and how stress shows up. After the example, things will get a little scientific, so buckle up and don't stress; we will journey through our internal programming and whether it supports or harms us in stressful situations— in life, love, and child-rearing.

AI Safety Bites

AI Regulation Verses DJT Redux

With Trump's election victory, significant and concerning changes in AI policy and regulation are expected. Trump's stance on AI regulation threatens to reduce pressure on tech companies, potentially compromising transparency, accountability, and ethical considerations in AI development and deployment. Additionally, the European Union (EU) is likely to react strongly to Trump's presidency, exacerbating transatlantic tensions and leading to a shift in global policy dynamics.

  • Repeal of Biden’s AI Executive Order: Trump has pledged to repeal the Biden administration’s executive order on AI, which could roll back crucial voluntary commitments made by tech companies to ensure AI safety and ethics.
  • Reduced Pressure on Tech Companies: With less federal pressure, there is a concerning likelihood of decreased transparency and accountability. Companies may reduce public reporting on AI safety, bias mitigation, and other ethical considerations, hindering efforts to ensure responsible AI development.
  • Shift in AI Policy Priorities: The Trump administration is expected to prioritize AI for economic competition with China and national security applications, potentially overshadowing critical ethical and regulatory concerns. This shift could lead to a focus on AI’s strategic benefits at the expense of responsible development.
  • Continued Commitment from Some Companies: Despite regulatory changes, companies such as Inflection AI, Scale AI, Nvidia, OpenAI, Amazon, and IBM have stated their intention to continue adhering to responsible AI development principles. However, the overall impact on the industry remains uncertain.
  • Focus on Economic Competition with China: Trump’s administration may establish “AI economic zones” and invest in infrastructure projects to bolster American AI development and counter China’s growing influence. While this could enhance competitiveness, it may also exacerbate tensions and overlook ethical considerations.
  • Emphasis on National Security Applications: AI’s potential in defense and national security is expected to be a key focus, with possible integration into the National Security Council and Pentagon strategies.
  • Balancing Innovation and Regulation: A significant challenge will be striking a balance between encouraging AI innovation and establishing regulatory frameworks to address potential risks.
  • Ensuring Ethical and Responsible AI Development: Ethical concerns related to AI development, including bias mitigation and transparency are not likely to be prioritized by Trump and his appointments.
  • Shift in Global Policy Dynamics: The EU's assertive response to Trump's presidency could lead to a shift in global policy dynamics, with the EU potentially taking a leading role in AI regulation and ethical standards.

AI Creative Applications

Influencer Gal Creates AI Dating App

Influencer Haliey Welch has made a stealth entrance into female-founded startup land with her dating app for Gen Z women looking to sift through the noise of online dating for signals the ladies actually want to see. Welch leveraged a developer to create the app (Ben Ganz, the founder of Ultimate AI Studio). Welch's app, Pookie Tools, may not be my cup of tea as a millennial who is happily not searching for a signal in the noise of online dating mayhem. However, the initiative of a female entrepreneur launching herself into the tech world is worth celebrating. When I see some xx chromosome fire, I have to raise a fist bump; can I get a huzzah for this, my allies and sisters?

If you ARE in the world of minnows and sharks seeking tasty salmon, go ahead and check out Pookie Tools. Welch's app has a few features the ladies will be all too familiar with, and the height detector has some dudes calling it unfair. Welch herself, a tall woman, created this feature to combat pervasive misrepresentation among men on dating apps (often lying about their height by as much as 4 inches!). Women who are scrutinized and misrepresented by society may find this feature a breath of fresh air, not to mention most of the news in the AI world around gender is very bad for women... porn AI apps multiply like rabbits in the app store on the daily y'all! 🐇🐇🐇🐇

I hope Welch's app marks a trend among female and underrepresented entrepreneurs to take the leap into tech. One word of advice: consider seeking your tech talent from the pool of female and underrepresented tech talent. WE DO EXIST!
